As a Christian, God has put a desire and passion in my heart for the dDeaf. I know Christ has called me to evangelize to the dDeaf, I would love to learn more about how I can enact this calling. As a student studying to become an interpreter, I am going to further my knowledge of how to evangelize in my future work space and share the love of Jesus Christ.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations” (Matthew 28:18-19). All the nations. Every people, every tribe, every tongue. Each and every nation. As a Christ follower, this is a command. I am to go out and share the love of Christ to every nation. A question I have always asked though, is what this looks like in my life. How does God, where does God, with who does God want to use me? The Lord continues to guide me in His plan. I find myself with desires in my heart that are only from Him. “If you seek the Lord, He will give you the desires of your heart” (Psalm 37:4). The more I seek the Lord, the more His desires become mine. He commands, I obey, He reveals. It’s a cycle.
For as long as I can remember, I have always had a curiosity for Sign Language, a desire to learn. I am still not aware of where this curiosity originated from, but it wasn’t until coming to Liberty University that the opportunity presented itself and I enrolled in American Sign Language I. The Lord led me to this opened door, then, He revealed. Within the first semester of beginning to learn the language of American Sign Language, I had such a passion for the language, for the people, for the culture. This passion only grew as my knowledge grew. Then, God opened my eyes. I am called to “be the salt and light to this dark and dying world” (Matthew 5:13). I have been called to be salt and light to the biggest unreached people group, the dDeaf.
